When Old is New

Fujifilm X-Pro 1 with XF 18mm lens

As I get older, my desire to own the latest and greatest photography gear has significantly diminished.

This past weekend, I decided to head out to one of my all-time favorite places to unwind and relax after a particularly grueling week at work. I found inspiration from a YouTube video I watched recently, which motivated me to take my X-Pro 1 out into the field and shoot some photographs. The X-Pro 1, released back in 2012, certainly lacks many of the bells and whistles that have become commonplace in cameras released in the last five years. While it may be slow and somewhat clunky in comparison, there is something truly enjoyable about the experience of shooting with it.

Embracing the limitations of this camera turned my journey through the garden into a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience, allowing me to slow down and truly focus on my beautiful surroundings.

This escape was much needed, and I’m genuinely glad that I decided to take out my X-Pro 1. I captured some images that I absolutely love, and it reinforced the notion that I don't need the newest camera to create what I genuinely enjoy creating.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my recent outing; I’m curious to know, what piece of older gear still works wonders for you?
