2014 Year in Review

2014 represents a giant step in my photographic journey. This past year I unofficially photographed a wedding, visited places I have never been or photographed, documented the growth of a child, covered a red carpet event, and sold some fine art prints. 

Although I am happy about last year, I realize I did a less than stellar job of showing my photographs. One of my goals this year is to share more, so I decided to create a video containing some of my favorite photographs from last year. The Grand Finale

This week I decided to begin work on one of my personal projects of creating sport portraits. The first sport I wanted to tackle was baseball. As usual my brother Marcus was ready for the task of being my first subject and playing the role of the greatest closer in baseball history The Grand Finale.

Jayden's Day in the Park

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Jayden and Kiyomi as they spent a day in the park. Jayden is a ball of energy and staying in once place is not on his agenda. I chased this little dude around the park the entire shoot and every moment I thought he would settle he was on the move again. 

Jayden needed to take a break and drop a beat.

Jayden already got his swagger down, just waiting for the call from Baby GQ.

There is noting more amazing than watching a child discover this big world. I want to thank Jayden and Kiyomi for allowing me to spend time on Jayden's quest to figure this world out. If anyone can do I know he can. 

My First Photography Job

I got my first paying job a couple of months providing pictures of Los Angeles County to decorate an office room. They needed 12 pictures and after our meeting they selected 10 pictures I already had and wanted me to photograph 2 additional locations.

The easiest part of the job was the photography and the printing. My biggest stumbling block in the entire process was my lack of confidence when it came to pricing my work. When I was ask how much I was charging I said such a lowball amount the client was even shocked. I was lucky that I was working with an amazing person and they realized I was selling myself short and increased the amount and I agreed to that price.

Once I got past the pricing stumbling block, I photograph the final 2 locations and submitted the pictures to the client for the final selections. Once the final selections were made, I printed each photo on a Epson R3000 on Red River San Gabriel SemiGloss Fiber fine art paper and delivered them.

The client was ecstatic and has sent the pictures off to their framer. 

This job really boost my confidence and made me realize that I need to stop selling myself short and put my work out there for people to see. I look forward to my next job so I can continually grow as a photographer.
